DUAN Zhen Zhong was born in 1944 in Anhui, China. He graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Design in year 1969, majored in Decorative Arts and Architecture. After graduation he had been working for years as Senior Art Director with the Beijing Film Studio. DUAN Zhen-Zhong has also been a member of the Chinese Association of Movie Artists, a member of the Chinese Academy of Movie Artists and a member of the Oriental Art Association, where he was Director of the Research Division for Qi Baishi Art Academy.
DUAN Zhen Zhong’s art design had appeared in many significant movie and television productions, and had received many awards for his contribution to the Chinese movie industry. In year 1989, his art production at movie “Waiting for Daybreak” was nominated to enter the “Golden Rooster” Award.
DUAN migrated to the United States in year 1995. He has been Full Member of the Brown County Art Guild in Nashville, IN； and also honorary professor of South China University of Technology of mainland China.
DUAN Zhen Zhong is an accomplished watercolor and oil painter, specialized in landscape and architectures. His work has been exhibited internationally, in Beijing, Hong Kong, Europe and the United States; and have received prizes and awards on many occasions. His painting exhibits detailed attention to the combination of color; shading of black, white, grey; warm and cold; processing of dots and lines; and control of rhythm. Whether the image being smoke ascending from a stone house in a mountain village in northern China; or fishing boats underneath the stone bridge at the water town of Jiangnan; or the wild ducks and falling leaves at Central Park of New York; or the dimming lights along the streets in Paris; stone pavement and steps leading to a church or a wooden hut; all exhibited strong sentiments towards where he is. The feeling is subtle, elegant and poetic.
His oil paintings have also been displayed and sold by prestigious and highly respected art auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christie’s.
段震中祖籍河南1944年生於安徽。1969年畢業於中央工藝美術學院建築裝飾美術系。曾任北京電影製片廠高級美術設計師。中國電影家協會會員。中國電影美術學會會員。齊白石藝術研究會理事。
段震中曾擔任過多部電影和電視劇的美術設計，1989年電影〈問天何時明〉獲中國電影金雞獎最佳美術設計提名。
1995年移居美國。現在是美國印第安那布朗士畫廊會員，中國華南理工大學顧問教授。
段震中的繪畫構圖注意組合取捨，黒，白，灰，點，線，面的處理，色彩冷暖，濃淡的搭配，節奏韻律的掌控。在他的作品裏，無論是中國北方山村石屋上漂浮的一縷炊煙，或是江南水鄉石橋下的幾葉漁舟，無論是紐約中央公園欄杆旁的野鴨和落葉或是法國巴黎街頭酒吧幽暗燈火下的石徑和臺階，無論是城堡教堂，或是木屋草房，都具有生命，給人以聯想和嚮往。作品含蓄大方，情趣高雅具有詩意。作品很受中外人士的喜愛。多年來，在美國紐約和各州的聯展，個展，博覽會，藝術節上，頻頻獲獎。
段震中作品亦曾經在國際著名的蘇富比及佳士得拍賣公司展覧及上拍。
