In early 2018, a team of artists of Shanghai Juejun Painting and Calligraphy Institute, led by Dean YUE Zhenwen, paid a pilgrimage to India, Nepal and the ancient cities along the course of Ganges River, in search of the origin of Buddhism and paid tribute to the traces and footsteps left by the Buddha.
With their pen, brushes and paper, these artists chronicled their visual and spiritual experiences of the sacred landscape, temple and buddhist statues on their sketching and drawing paper; not only with the soul of a pilgrim, but also from the perspective of traditional Chinese art of calligraphy and painting.
The International Arts Gallery is honoured to invite some of the artists on this pilgrimage to Vancouver, to exhibit the masterpieces of their journey, and to share with the Vancouver arts community their experiences from artists’ perspective. We are so blessed to be able to travel across time and space to the Holy Land though their art pieces.
