LI XUBAI 李虛白
LI Xubai, born in Fuzhou, Fujian Province of China in year 1940.
During the years of 1960s studied Chinese classical literature, poetry and painting of landscape from Master LIU Heng. Moved to Hong Kong in year 1979, and worked as Chief Editor of several arts journals and publications. Migrated to Canada in 1996 and currently residing in Toronto.
Significant Awards:
1994 Landscape Painting “ The Dream of Homeland” won Art Award of Urban Council, Contemporary Hong Kong Biennial
1996 Landscape Painting “Summer Rain” selected to Contemporary Hong Kong Biennial
2003 Landscape Painting “The Four Prefaces of Jianshan” selected to Contemporary Hong Kong Biennial
Significant Exhibitions:
Since 1995 LI Xubai has held numerous solo exhibitions at museums and arts galleries in New York City and Boston, United States; Ottawa, Canada; Arts Museum, University of Hong Kong; He Xiang Ning Art Museum of Shenzhen, as well as Fujian Hua Yuan of China, to quote a few.
His paintings have been collected by Hong Kong Museum of Art; Arts Museum of University of Hong Kong; He Xiang Ning Art Museum of Shenzhen, China; Academics Professor Michael Sullivan of UK; Kaikodo LLC, New York: Library of Harvard University, United States; Chinese American Fine Arts Society, and Asian American Broadcast Network, Boston, United States, etc.
李虛白原名李瑞熊,又名李齊、公望,號省齋,又號聽雲山館主人。
1940 出生於中國福建省福州市,自一九六零年代初始,追隨閩中國學耆宿劉蘅先生學習中 國古文學及山水畫。
1979 定居香港,曾任文物藝術刊物《收藏天地》、《龍語》主編。 1996 移民加拿大。
獎項
1994 山水畫《夢裏家山》獲「1994年度當代香港藝術雙年展」市政局藝術獎(繪畫—國畫素材)。
1996 山水畫《夏山煙雨》入選「1996年度當代香港藝術雙年展」。
2003 山水畫《江山四序圖》入選「2003年度當代香港藝術雙年展」。
展覽
自一九九五年始曾多次在美國波士頓及紐約、加拿大渥太華、香港大學美術愽物館、中國深圳何香凝美術館和福建省畫院等地舉行個人畫展。
收藏
作品被香港藝術館、香港大學美術博物館、中國何香凝美術館、英國學者蘇立文教授、美國懷古堂、美國哈佛大學圖書館、清興齋及波士頓亞洲美國廣播網絡等收藏。
