Khan, Shameem
Having an educational background in Architecture, I have worked with watercolors to produce Architectural renderings as a visualization tool for depicting buildings and spaces, warm and cool materials and most importantly the effect of light and shadow in my work.
I developed a strong desire to explore this very unpredictable medium to create works of art that showcase the transparent light and strong dark qualities that can be achieved in watercolor to transform everyday urban city landscapes into surreal and dynamic spaces, enhancing the viewers experience to see the world around us through the loose brushstrokes and exaggerated colour splashes whether its in the wet streets or the bright sunlit structures and rich dark shadows.
I am constantly striving to achieve bolder, more dynamic pieces which is an ongoing learning process specially with a medium like watercolor where the results achieved in one painting cannot always be replicated in another. This can result in a disaster at times and on occasion into a brilliant piece of work.

Longstaff, Lyle
Lyle Longstaff was born in New Westminster in 1939 and has lived his entire life in the Lower Mainland, including forty years in the lovely Hazelmere Valley.
He attended Semiahmoo High School and worked outdoors in the construction and farming industries. These years of experience honed his deep awareness of natural beauty and the rhythm of the seasons as they unfold.
An industrial accident became a blessing in disguise, as it left him unable to work for several months. This is when he took up painting for the first time, and his innate talent was immediately recognized.
Lyle paints and draws because he loves it. He studied with Vee Hansen and the late Dale Germain and has developed his own clear, clean style in his portrayals of seascapes, landscapes, flowers and wildlife. He paints in oil and acrylics. Lyle enjoys flower gardening, camping, hiking and fishing, and while he is engaged in these activities, his painter’s eye is constantly seeking out more inspiration for his art. He is rarely without his camera. Lyle’s paintings are available at the Kube Gallery in Fort Langley BC.

Or in the metaphor of dance, she finds the possibility between one movement to another more intriguing than the arrival of a finale.
Her work has been shown in Center A, Concourse Art Gallery, UBC Student Nest, Jericho Beach, New Westminster Museum and Gallery, Access Gallery, and Burnaby Art Gallery. She is a graduate of Emily Carr University with a Bachelor in Visual Arts. Wen Wen is also an inspiring visual arts educator to a few vibrant communities; they and those around her know her as Cherry.

WU, Anita
Anita Wu is a student of renowned artists Paul Chui (徐榕生) since 2013. She has taken up this interest since retiring from nursing 4 years ago; and has thoroughly enjoyed her journey. The objects of her painting have consisted of scenes in nature and personal portraits. But one of her love is painting pet animals, especially dogs. She feels that dogs are not only man’s best friends; they possess an intellect and emotional intelligence that are often under-appreciated. She hopes to capture those qualities in her paintings. Anita had her first art show in November 2016 at the Chinese Christian Mission (CCM) Center in Burnaby; and had received wonderful reviews.
