Fascinating Script and Vibrant Images DENG Shenyi Art Exhibition

DENG Shen Yi, Chinese Artist, originated from ShangQiu City of Henan Province. Born in 1962 and was attracted to arts, calligraphy and paintings at a junior age. He graduated from the Beijing Academic of Arts in 1989. Since then he has been dedicated tirelessly in the practice and study of the techniques in calligraphy and arts. He aims at innovative and creative arts. By researching and examining classical and modern Chinese famous artists works, he applies their merits into his own works, thus modifies the traditional landscapes, bird and flowers paintings with addition of spreading techniques of color inks, focuses in colors tune and images formation, outlines as well as rapid strokes in drawing. He had therefor formulate unique three dimensions impression in his paintings. His artworks has been described as “Having the strength of Expressionism, demonstrating the Spirit of Optimism and Forward Thinking” (Mr. Sen Xi Cun, Dean of Chinese Painting Research Academic ).

In the recent years, DENG Shen Yi has been actively promoting his paintings to make non-Chinese English speaking folks easier to understand. He has designed a set of English words with letters framed into a Chinese Style square and rectangular seal format, and use them as the title of his paintings. He has produced several thousand of these kind of single words. He named them “English Block Words” and they become a new Chinese and English cultural exchange media.

鄧申義

中國畫家，祖籍河南商丘，1962年出生，自幼喜愛書畫藝術，1989年畢業於中央美術學院，其後刻苦鑽研書畫技藝，力圖創新。參涉中國古代及現代名畫家之長，將傳統山水及花烏畫以潑灑彩墨造勢，注重顏色及構圖，勾綫飛筆，形成獨特立體畫面。其作和被譽為：「具有表現主義的張力，體驗了積極向上、樂觀豁達的精神」(中國畫研究院沈希城先生)。

近年鄧申義積極推展其作品使非華裔英語人士能容易明白，並研發出以英文字母組成詞語，用長方型或方塊型圖案採中國書法書寫，作為其作品之題目。他為這些方塊詞彙編集拼寫出數千個英語單詞，稱為「方塊英文」，成為中英文化交流的一種創新媒介。
