Xiaoping MENG (Peter), born in the ancient capital of Xi’an, also known as the “ordinary man in the apricot forest”, is the former vice president of Richmond Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Club. His is currently the vice president of HanMoFengqi arts group. He has been inspired by art when he was very young, and with a strong passion for Chinese Culture, especially in Chinese painting, bonsai and carving. The ancient capital has helped him hone his artistic skills, and he was able to create his own unique artistic style. His Chinese painting skill was teached by Professor ZhiGuang ZHANG, of the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts. Over the years, he has diligently researched and studied artistic theories, and putting them into practice. In 2007 and 2012, his artworks were displayed in Galleries of the Richmond Public Library and Richmond City Hall. A number of media sources interviewed him and published articles of him, and his works was collected by domestic and international art enthusiasts. He also published : “The Collected Essays of Hua Pao Zhai” and the “Personal Chinese Painting Selection of XiaoPing MENG”.
孟小平,古都西安人,號杏林庸人,曾任加拿大列治文市中國書畫協會副會長。現任翰墨風情雅敘副會長。自幼喜好藝術,尤其對中國文化情有獨鐘,對國畫、盆景、雕刻等均有涉獵。十三朝古都的文化薰陶,耳濡目染,造就了獨特的藝術風格。國畫師從西安美院國畫系主任張之光教授。多年來潛心研究繪畫理論和實踐,筆耕不綴。2007年,2012年先後在加拿大列治文市圖書館,列治文市政廳舉辦個人畫展。被多家媒體報導,作品被國內外機構和個人廣為收藏。出版有《畫匏齋雜記》,《孟小平畫集》。
